Open source

The tools we build for Proxmox VE, public since 2016. Written for our own daily work and released because other people needed them too.

What the suite contains

Management

  • Web platform for managing clusters: like vCenter, but for Proxmox VE.
  • kubectl-style command line with multi-cluster support.
  • PowerShell module for automating the cluster: the PowerCLI equivalent. Over half a million downloads on the PowerShell Gallery.
  • Exports the infrastructure to Excel, HTML or JSON. The RVTools equivalent.
  • Diagnostics and cluster health checks.

Continuous protection

  • Automatic recurring snapshots of machines and containers, with retention policies. For going back hours, not days.
  • Backup and restore of node configuration: the part machine backups do not cover.

Access

  • Desktop VDI client: SPICE, VNC, RDP and SSH consoles.
  • Opens a machine’s SPICE or VNC console from the command line, without going through the web interface.
  • Telegram bot to manage and monitor the cluster from a phone.

For the community

  • The collection of documentation, tools, guides and resources for Proxmox VE that we maintain for anyone working with it. Not our software: a map of what exists.

What people say

  • If you have ever wanted to have something like RVTools that we have had for years in VMware environments, cv4pve-report is a tool that provides that functionality for you.

    Brandon LeeVirtualizationHowto

  • Better than the usual ZFS snapshot scripts, as it makes use of the PVE API, so data integrity is kept, as it will fsfreze and flush caches before snapshotting.

    Dunuinforum.proxmox.com

  • Think of it as vCenter reimagined for the Proxmox ecosystem: except lighter, faster, and built with modern .NET technologies.

    Mohamed Idbrahimbrightcoding.dev

  • Cv4pve-autosnap on Proxmox is a tried and tested tool that, with a little bit of configuration, can take snapshots of individual servers or entire nodes.

Why we release them

We write them because we need them: we run clusters every day and some things Proxmox VE does not do out of the box. Keeping them to ourselves would gain us nothing, while publishing them means other people try them, report problems and sometimes improve them. It is the same reason we use free software on client projects.

Commercial support

The tools are free and stay that way. Teams running them in production can buy support: it is how the development sustains itself, and whoever answers is the person who writes the code.

Assistance

Answers on installation, configuration and production problems, with agreed response times.

Development on request

Features and integrations you need that do not exist yet. If they make sense for everyone, they end up in the public release.

Training

Half a day or a full day on the tools, for the people who use them daily.

The code

Source, releases and documentation for every tool. Issues and contributions are welcome.
